I had read about this before.Apparently a local radio station dared it's listeners to all flush their toilets a the same.This particuler manhole probaly has 3 or 4 inflow lines and only 1 outflow line,which had become overloded when several high rise buildings worth of flushes all converged at once. Water,like electricity will always find the path of least risistance,which in this case was up and out the top of the manhole.The repeated gysers was due to the fact that the discharged flushes did not arrive a the same time due to the distance the buildings were from the manhole.

For any future readers, the above poster is retarded. That's stupid even for an urban legend. It's an overflowing stormwater drainage system, that's all.
