The impact of massive waves that struck a cruise ship during a storm off New Zealand have been revealed by CCTV footage posted on the internet.
Pacific Sun Cruise liner, carrying 1732 passengers and 671 crew, was caught in a severe storm on July 30, 2008, encountering seven-metre swells and 50 knot winds.
Passengers who were aboard the journey were offered a 25 percent reduction in the cost of a future cruise.
Unfortunately every day in the news we can witness terrible accidents. Some of them are really unbelievable...

dude at 1:27 should ble glad he ducked out before he got creamed by that forklift
ReplyDeleteGoodness, I hope no one was to badly hurt.
ReplyDeleteThat Was AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteOnly 25% off? Seriously?
ReplyDeleteThat looks SO FUN. besides the forklift of death.
ReplyDeletewtf was with the music??? lol
ReplyDeletehaha they were offered 25% off a future cruise??? why would they go on another cruise after that?
ReplyDeleteHaha, I love the beginning with the lady in pink just chillin' then all of the sudden...oh shit!!
ReplyDeleteI was in the Navy for a good many years and went through a few storms that we left footprints on the bulkheads. We also practiced a little thing called "securing all unused equipment and cargo." This should never have happened.
ReplyDeleteYou nailed it! That man would have been killed. So question is - Did they ignore rules in sight of laziness or ... are there no rules on cruise ships. And by 'rules' I mean "common sense". How sad.
DeleteHell yeah, I suddenly want to go on a cruise.
ReplyDeleteDid this make anyone else laugh REALLY hard or was it just me?
ReplyDeleteI laughed. Does that make me a bad person?
ReplyDeleteI laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed!!!! It's amazing....
ReplyDeletelol
ReplyDeleteCheck out the woman getting knocked out cold against the upper left pillar at 48 seconds
ReplyDeleteI laughed REALLY hard. G
ReplyDeleteIs it common practice for cruise ships to leave their equipment unsecured when they're out to sea?
ReplyDeleteThose tables should have been secured to the floor, the chairs.. well they are obviously not gonna be secured... But the forklift, and all the equipment should have been secured. Someone messed up and they offer only a 25% discount?! There should have been major compensation for the major screw up, horrible regulations for securing items and why didn't the captain steer out of the storm? He should have watched the weather forecast (I know some storms are unavoidable)!

Hahahahah looks epic
ReplyDeleteIts a F*&^ing cruise ship. Tables have to be moved every few hours. For different set up for different events. It was an act of god. Why would anyone expect any compensation.
ReplyDeleteThere's no way a fork lift should have been left unsecured. The company should have been sued
ReplyDeleteMan, i wish i was there.
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled upon this. This was featured on the new episode of Tosh.0 this evening. Weird.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! I just wish there's an update
ReplyDeletethe guy in the black and white striped shirt had it the worst by far. he was caught in the wash and just "cruised" back in forth the whole time. ha
ReplyDeleteI gotta agree with the other people who have had experience at Sea.. I might not have that MUCH experience but I've run a check list on one or two boats and the first thing is to make sure that loose equipment, like say, Buoy's and the spare engine are SECURELY bolted/tied down to a bulkhead or placed in a compartment. If you go on a cruise ship in the states or on a major liner you'll notice that the deck chairs, when not in use, are tied to the deck. The forklift and cargo area though? That's terrible.. The Cruise liner should have given a full refund and need to properly secure their cargo. That's a good lawsuit waiting because if you think the ship isn't big enough to be moved, The Sea will prove you quite wrong.
ReplyDelete25% off? I would PAY to experience that!
ReplyDeleteIf you laughed at this.. thats sad, some people could have been seriously injured, what about the people in their rooms? on the top bunk? or in the shower? what if someone was ON DECK? you have to think about the other things, if you laughed at this, your are absolutely pathetic.
ReplyDeleteA clear depiction of just how poorly we (as obese, over-fed, lazy, pathetic, shaved apes) are at adapting to sudden changes in our environment.
ReplyDeleteAny other mammal would've handled that better than these goofy bastards.
You're in the middle of the ocean, strolling through a gift shop with a latte...you had it coming.
...and to Anon above: in the shower on a bed (enclosed space, or horizontal) would likely be the BEST place to be.
With my luck I'd be just roller blading into the shop selling ball-bearings and exotic snakes when this went down.
"Any other mammal would've handled that better than these goofy bastards."
ReplyDeleteHave you ever seen a dog in a car? LOL
"Have you ever seen a dog in a car? LOL"
ReplyDeleteHAHA Brilliant response. I am surprised no one was killed, very very surprised. I would have beat the captain of the ship within an inch of his life for almost killing us all and being a complete douchebag.
"With my luck I'd be just roller blading into the shop selling ball-bearings and exotic snakes when this went down."
ReplyDeleteTHIS just made me laugh so hard my stomach is hurting.
Looks funny as all of them were playing some kinda game, but on serious note Hope Nobody Got seriously injured or so, in that. @0:48 a lady got collapsed into a pillar... must had have hurt.
ReplyDeletekinda looks like the hotel fight scene from Inception.
ReplyDeleteSome storms are unavoidable, beating the captain for not being able to avoid it is like beating a child for pissing the bed...it happens. 7 meter waves aren't exactly your kiddie pool. Many of you are saying that things should have been tied down. Were talking about a cruise ship, something that doesn't often get knocked around by waves, military ships and fishing vessels must have things tied down. Because they are a hell of a lot smaller (typically, im not talking about a freaking aircraft carrier). But a cruise ship getting rocked around so hard this happens is so rare they don't, other wise there would be a lot more videos of cruise ships with people flying all over the place. As for funny? spectacularly so. Hell that would have been fun and I probably would have been laughing the whole time. Then again I'm the one praying before a flight to hit some mad turbulence cause its a good ride :)
ReplyDelete"Only 25% off? Seriously?"
ReplyDeleteWhat, like the cruise liner is responsible for the weather? They didn't have to give them jack #$!%.
It's hard to judge from just a single video but regardless of what kind of or size of ship it is, the crew and captain appear to have done a poor job preparing for the foul weather. No matter how big a ship is you're still on the ocean and should be prepared to tie shit down and hold on. And maybe they were ignoring orders but if I were the captain I sure wouldn't want the general public wandering around during a huge storm, I'd tell everyone to stay in their rooms or some sort of safe place where heavy objects aren't threatening their safety. That being said what did you people who blamed the captain want him to do? Play god? You can't control mother nature.
ReplyDeletethat looks like so much fun
ReplyDeleteDAYUM!
ReplyDeleteI know it shouldn't be laughed at, but it really is funny. That would be cool to have a restaurant with sliding furniture.
ReplyDelete"Many of you are saying that things should have been tied down. Were talking about a cruise ship, something that doesn't often get knocked around by waves, military ships and fishing vessels must have things tied down."
ReplyDeleteJust saying that it's a cruise ship isn't a reason at all not to have things tied down.
Of course, a cruise ship is going to avoid bad weather, so they don't usually have to deal with this kind of thing. But, as we see here, it happens. Being a cruise ship, it should actually be more safe than others. Lots of vacationers who don't know what to do, all in a big room with lots of stuff sliding around... it's a recipe for disaster. Just because they're a massive party boat out floating in the ocean gives them no excuse to be lax on safety like that.
That said, it's still a cool video. Those tourists got a bit of a shock when they realized that it's not just a hotel. It's a boat, subject to the ocean just as any other.
Hahaha the music was perfect
ReplyDeletedid we learn nothing from titanic...
ReplyDeletefirst of all, to the guy who called the laughers pathetic:
ReplyDeleteits ok to laugh. you know when someone is really fed up with you and screaming their brains out at you and you suddenly remember something funny? of coures you laugh! sometimes, as HUMAN BEINGS, we laugh at things that aren't necessarily funny to others. get over it. if you can't laugh at something, at least sorta like this, you're simply missing a human quality that helps us get through painful times.
I guess 'Secure for sea' doesn't mean anything to these people. Also, it's not like storms just sneak up on you on the open ocean. These ships have multiple ways of monitoring the weather and probably a dedicated crew member just for that. They're lucky they didn't get saddled with a bunch of law suits.
ReplyDeleteYes I laughed, but I'm hoping the woman who hit the pillar was the worst injury. There's so much of the boat that the cameras didn't cover for us to know. It had to be scary for that guy in the striped shirt to slide over BEFORE every piece of furniture in the room followed him. I don't know about the table and such, but at the very least, the forklift should've been secured.
ReplyDeleteI like your video. It's really awesome.
ReplyDeletereally very nice blog.
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
ReplyDeletewtf is this music choice???
ReplyDeleteholey shiT!!! craziness!! they shoulda got they'r money back and called it a day to remember . . . funny but scary. hope all ppl were ok (later). lol
ReplyDeleteFUNNY? how can you laugh at this and see ppl getting hurt perhaps seriously. I doubt any of you would be laughing if it were happening to you or any of your family. You would be fighting for your life and pissed as hell that the cruise ship did not take safety precautions. shame
ReplyDeleteto everyone saying "zomgz its a cruise ship nothing should have to be tied down"
ReplyDeletei was on a ferry, on a very short trip. we hit massive waves and surges, and EVERYTHING apart from, say, the crockery in the kitchen was secured. and everyone had to stay seated.
theres no excuse. imagine if someone had been killed!
The "Pacific" Ocean.
ReplyDeleteWow, shouldn't all those tables be nailed down or something? And I'm sorry, but I'm not going to settle for 25% off my next cruise. With an experience like that, I'm not taking a cruise for a LONG time! I'll accept cash or check :)
ReplyDeleteTilt your computer back and forth. Its like your dumping all those ppl back and forth. lol
ReplyDeleteshitty music fyi
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell is wrong with you people? Laughing?
ReplyDeleteYea, it would have been hysterical if it was you or a member of your family....
What's with all the LOL!! Ha Ha Ha? Do you laugh that hard when you get hurt? Or your parents? You are all sociopaths. Wait, you ignorant people probably don't know what that means. NO, it actually doesn't necessarily mean you kill strangers at random. It means you have no concern for the feeling of other human beings and that you measure the worth of people by their usefullness to YOU. In short, you are selfish and uncaring and are going to Hell if there is one.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only person who was reminded of the movie Inception as I watched this? It made me think of when the hotel hallway started to tilt and spin!!
ReplyDeleteJust plain creepy.
ReplyDeletethat is absolutely crazy. I'm surprised none of those people were throwing up as they were being knocked side to side.
ReplyDelete46 seconds into it look at the center top of the vid , lady gets KO'ed by the pole
ReplyDeletei LOl'ed
I would have demanded my cruise be free! not 25% off...
ReplyDeleteHellllllooooooo...you're talking about being out on the ocean! That's life on the big pond!!
ReplyDeleteSeven meter swells, that's just when the 'fun' begins to happen. Try being on a out there on a container ship in 15 to 20 meter (45 to 60 foot) seas.
That being said, the crew certainly have done a better job of securing for heavy weather.
that's terrible! i can't believe it...
ReplyDeleteHow cool would it have been if EVERYONE on the ship died during that storm?
ReplyDeleteOMFG! the ocmments were funy as fk! the video itself was horrible, but the music made it hilarious every time i went back to watch another part of something, the woman getting cracked by the pole made me choke on the cig i was smokin I do hope shes ok but thats funny as fucking hell
ReplyDeleteThe meatball man didn't stand a chance.
ReplyDeleteYou people laughing at other people getting hurt or in danger of grave injury are sick. You need your heads examined. You have a serious personality disorder. Anybody who thinks it would be fun to be in that situation should have a piano dropped on them because that's what it would be like being hit by some of the furniture sliding around in that room. I'd like to see you laugh then you sick douche bags.

SHOULDN'T THERE HAVE BEEN SAFETY REGULATIONS THERE? LIKE ANCHORING EQUIPMENTS WHEN THEYRE ON STANDBY.
ReplyDeleteYEAH, WHATEVER. LOOKED LIKE A FUNNY MOVIE, BUT SOMEBOBY COULD HAVE REALLY GOTTEN HURT THERE.
Shut up,life is funny, the Lord has humor too. Let him have fun with our lives. This is nothing that duct tape can't fix. No one died. So we can laugh all we want. I would laugh if I was there too. It's all a joke, life is a joke, you are a joke,I am a joke, laugh it up while you are alive.Check the oil in your car. Death is imminent and 99% funny, too bad we can't laugh at our own death,or can we? Eat bananas. The Grim Reaper is hilarious and likes corn. Adopt a Cat. Someone hooked a big whale from the cruise Ship, that's why it tilted. That's me in the corner, that's me in the spotlight losing my religion. 2012 is not the end,its the new beginning. Watch Dexter. Did I mention we are all a joke?? Someone will reply and someone will comment this. Go ahead, its all a joke.
